5 Cheapest Places to Buy Property in Vietnam

Buy Property

Vietnam is by no means an expensive country. Most items you’ll see on store shelves there will cost only half the price of the very same shelf items you’ll find in the west. The economy and prices there are a little tilted, with one Great British Pound worth around 30,600 Vietnamese Dongs. It’s worth noting that all prices and properties listed here are taken from such property sites as Savills, Dot Property, and Tranio.

In this article we will look at the 5 cheapest places to buy property in Vietnam.

Thua Thien Hue

The city often known simply enough as Hue ranks high on this list as it’s not the most well-known, or even most densely populated of cities.

In fact, here you could buy some very good property for what in the UK or America would be called a ‘Steal.’ The market price for most luxury houses with such luxuries as swimming pools would be averaged at around 3.6 billion Vietnamese Dongs, which in GBP would be a much smaller number of £117,600.

It’s a wonderful city, with much to offer, having once been the home of the Nguyen Dynasty emperors as well as the national capital from 1802 to 1945. The other listings you’ll find here are much cheaper, but this city certainly makes the list for its historical value and culture.

Pleiku

Capital of the Gia Lai Province, and known for once having been the home to the Bahnar and Jarai ethnic groups, Pleiku is a sprawling and wonderful city that ought never be underestimated.

Average property listings go for an average of 3.5 billion Dong, if you’re looking for a quality, 3-bedroom house. They’re the easiest to find on offer when it comes to Vietnam, given that the market targets the higher-value market of the West. Thus, this amounts to a GBP of £115,900, which is very affordable, if what you’re looking for is a great quality home.

Buon Ma Thuot

This city is the capital city of Đắk Lắk Province, and over the years has seen quite a significant population growth, up to 500,000 people. It’s known as the ‘Capital of Coffee’ and celebrated as the biggest city in all of Vietnam’s Central Highlands.

3 billion Vietnamese Dong is the average price for good property here, typically amounting to around 110 Square metres. A humble £98,000 in GBP.

Da Lat

Located in the province of Lam Dong, property for housing in this city with a population of only around 420,000 people is famed for its vast surroundings of hills, pine forests, lakes and waterfalls. It’s the perfect place for a nature lover, with 3-bedroom, 92 square metre housing typically purchasable at around the price of 1.6 billion Vietnamese Dongs. In GPB of course, this is only £52,300 making it a wholly worthwhile purchase. Single bedroom apartment housing is typically available for purchase at almost a third of the price and lower!

Bian Hoa

Bien Hoa, capital of the Dong Nai province, has an average 3-bedroom price of property at around 1.2-1.3 billion Vietnamese Dong. In GPB this is about £42,500, making it by far one of the cheapest places to live in all of Vietnam.

You’ll by now have noticed how this trend of the pricing becoming insanely low in comparison to Western currency, making it all very affordable for Westerners. It’s the country’s fifth largest city, found nearly 30 kilometres east of the super-expensive Hồ Chí Minh City, to which it’s connected by a single highway. It may not be the grandest of places, but in terms of affordability, it can’t go unsung.
